NO LAND – Mariannita Luzzati & Marcelo Bratke
From April 10 to May 14, the Brasilea Foundation presents “No Land” a mega installation which presents paintings, prints, videos and musical performances that revolve around the Cinemúsica project, conceived by Brazilian visual artist Mariannita Luzzati to bring music and art to Brazilian prisons through multimedia concerts with acclaimed Brazilian pianist Marcelo Bratke.
In the multimedia musical performances at Brasilea Foundation the film/scenario designed by Luzzati that accompanies the pianist will take the audience on an imaginary journey through music and images inspired by the Brazilian nature in exactly the same way they were presented at Brazilian prisons. During the performance Bratke plays the works by Heitor Villa-Lobos and other Brazilian composers who were inspired by nature. This unusual project was performed in 10 high security prisons of the state of São Paulo and resulted in a wonderful documentary film, full of passion and emotions. The documentary “Cinemúsica ” was shown at many international festivals including: Festival of the World in London Southbank, Sarajevo Winter Festival , Performing the World in New York , and the Museum of Image and Sound in São Paulo , among others. The concert “Cinemúsica” has been performed in more than 50 concert halls and museums in Brazil, England, Bosnia, Germany and the United States.
” Cinemúsica” won an award at the Sarajevo Winter Festival in 2014.
This is the first time that “Cinemúsica” will be presented and performed in Switzerland .
The Brasilea Foundation will host during this period the exhibition “No Land ” with paintings and prints by Mariannita Luzzati. These works will be in constant dialogue with the video installations and the scenarios used in the concerts “Cinemúsica” as well as the documentary on the project conceived and directed by Luzzati .
About Mariannita Luzzati
Mariannita explores in her works the subject of nullifying traces of civilizations in order to restore primary conditions of the landscape in their places of origin. In this new series the paintings have as their point of departure photographs of the landscapes of Rio de Janeiro, Espírito Santo and Santos.
The apparent emptiness evoked by the images recreates the original natural condition of these environments placing the viewer in a state of reflection and contemplation
Mariannita Luzzati was recently one of the artists invited to participate in the exhibition “Women Artists and Brazilian” held at the Presidential Palace in Brasilia in honor of President Dilma Rousseff .
Luzzati participated in exhibitions in major museums and institutions in Brazil and abroad, such as the International Biennial of São Paulo, Pinacoteca do Estado de São Paulo, the Museum of Modern Art of São Paulo, Museum of Contemporary Art of São Paulo, Museum of Art Modern Rio de Janeiro, Museum of Modern Art of Bahia, National Museum of Fine Arts in Rio de Janeiro, Museum of Contemporary Art in Curitiba, Palácio das Artes in Belo Horizonte, Iberê Camargo Foundation in Porto Alegre, Museu Vale in Vitória, National Museum of Buenos Aires , Museum of London, Haus Der Kulturen Der Welt in Berlin , Maison Saint Gilles in Brussels, among others .

About Marcelo Bratke
Recently acclaimed by The New York Times for his performance of Villa- Lobos at Carnegie Hall, Bratke has frequently performed at the most prestigious concert halls in the world, including the Queen Elizabeth Hall in London, Konzerthaus in Berlin, Salzburg Festival and Suntory Hall in Tokyo, among many others.
Marcelo Bratke is the founder of Camerata Brazil, an orchestra formed by young musicians that come from the underprivileged areas of Brazilian society with which he performed more than 200 concerts in Brazil and abroad. He is currently engaged in the “Villa-Lobos Worldwide Project”, an international campaign designed to promote the music of Villa-Lobos which includes the recording of his complete solo piano works in a collection of eight CDs, by Quartz, as well as concerts in Europe, the US and Asia, a weekly radio program about Villa-Lobos at Cultura FM and the production of a TV documentary about the composer.
He studied at the Julliard School of Music in New York. Featured among his many awards are: First Prize at Tradate International Music Competition in Italy, Revelation Prize of the São Paulo Art Critics’ Association, Carlos Gomes Award in Brazil, Classical Discoveries Award in the UK, Brazil in Germany 2006 Award, The 14th Brazilian International Press Award and Sarajevo Winetr Festival Award 2014.
His CD Le Groupe des Six was voted by Gramophone Magazine as one of the greatest classical recordings of all time.

Marcelo Bratke will perform at the Brasilea Foundation at the Vernissage of the exhibition on April 10 at 6:45pm and on May the 14th there will be a performance at the Finissage for special guests.
